Oregon State announces basketball schedule

Entering their 60th season at legendary Gill Coliseum and fresh off a CBI championship, the Oregon State men’s basketball team will host 17 home games to highlight the 2009-10 schedule released by head coach Craig Robinson on Friday. The Beavers will play 15 regular season home games in addition to two exhibition contests.

Gator football team raises funds for charity

Before the rain came down Friday night, The Swamp was flooded with Florida fans eager to see the Gators battle it out in the Gator Charity Challenge. About 2,500 people attended the second annual challenge in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium to watch Florida players compete in a three-part strongman competition to raise money for six Shands Hospital-affiliated charities.

Bachman talks about commitment to IU

Seahawks OT Wahle retires after release (AP)

Two-time Pro Bowl guard Mike Wahle has retired after being released by the Seattle Seahawks for failing a physical before their first practice of training camp. Seahawks coach Jim Mora said Friday the 32-year-old Wahle told him he had "decided to hang it up for the time being" and spend more time with his family.

Hawaii coach McMackin suspended 30 days (AP)

Hawaii coach Greg McMackin is being suspended for 30 days and voluntary taking a pay cut for making a derogatory comment while describing Notre Dame's chant before last year's Hawaii Bowl. McMackin addressed reporters late Friday after meeting with athletic director Jim Donovan and Chancellor Virginia Hinshaw to discuss Thursday's incident.
