Panama defeats Haiti in friendly 4-0 (AP)

Panama beat Haiti 4-0 in a friendly match on Wednesday thanks to a hat trick by forward Blas Perez. Luis Tejada scored Panama’s first goal just 4 minutes into the exhibition game, while Perez, who plays for Pachuca in the Mexican league, followed with scores at 57, 72 and 87 minutes.

Venezuela tightened South American qualifying for the 2010 World Cup with a 2-0 victory over Colombia on Tuesday night. Colombia squandered the opportunity to move into fifth place in qualifying, while Venezuela is eighth, but, with 13 points, trails Colombia by just one. The Venezuelans are even with Ecuador in points, trailing on goal differential.
